The 10 most frequently asked questions about our industrial buildings

Published on

Are you considering buying or renting a flexible, modular industrial hall? Good for you, because semi-permanent buildings offer several key advantages over traditional construction, such as delivery speed (within a few weeks) and long-term flexibility (your new hall will remain scalable and relocatable).

We can imagine that you may have some questions regarding options, dimensions, lifespan, insulation and so on. In this article, our product specialists will answer the ten questions they get asked most often.

1. Can the structure be insulated to save energy costs?

Yes. All our structures can be insulated completely (and to your specs) to ensure optimal climatic conditions. Given the recent rise in energy costs, good insulation is more important than ever. We offer several options to achieve the level of insulation that matches the halls intended use, such as sandwich panels, double roofing and our latest innovation: drop-stitch roof panels, which offer an even higher insulation value.

From a 'cold storage' hall to a fully insulated, climate controlled hall: we can offer you a bespoke solution. Just tell us which level of insulation you want to achieve.

2. Can you build higher than 4 metres?

No problem. If necessary, we can even go up to 10m. In terms of dimensions, we can deliver your new hall fully customised to your specifications. Why don’t you go and try our 3D design tool? It allows you to see what sizes are available, and what your hall will look like. And it's actually fun to do!

3. Do special regulations apply to buildings rented for longer periods?

The same regulations do not apply everywhere, so unfortunately you should always check locally. We can, however, help you with this. In general, we can say that we can provide buildings that are fully compliant with the Eurocode.

4. Do you provide turnkey solutions?

Sure, we’ll gladly deliver your new building on a turnkey basis. In addition to designing it completely to size and layout, we can also provide your hall with ramps, lighting, HVAC, sanitary facilities, and so on. We’re here to help you and take work off your hands, so we are always open to providing additional services.

5. Do we need to rent or buy the structure?

Both options are fine with us, it’s about what works best for you. We are flexible, so you can be too.

6. Can the floor handle heavy loads?

Absolutely. Usually, we build our structures on an existing foundation. As long as the gradient remains below 2%, this is no problem at all. Otherwise, a concrete base has to be provided, and we’ll build on that. The use of a foundation means that the hall is suitable for the use of heavy machinery and vehicles.

7. What is the maximum length of your structures?

Our industrial buildings can be as long as you want them to be. We can extend our constructions with 5-metre-long modules. In Belgium, we have already erected a commercial building that is 500 metres in length, and in Austria we have recently delivered a Eurocode-compliant warehouse that is over 200 metres long and is located in a snow-rich area.

8. Is the building suitable for temporary or permanent use?

We offer both temporary and permanent solutions, which is why we often refer to our products as 'semi-permanent'. Do you need a hall for short-term use, e.g. for a few months? We can help you.  Do you need a hall for several years or maybe even one that you can use indefinitely? Ditto. Our structures are designed and produced with care and we exclusively work with the best materials. That is why a building from Losberger De Boer can easily be used for 30 years.

9. Is a concrete foundation necessary?

It is not mandatory, but it depends on your intended use (do you want to use heavy machinery, for instance) and the soil conditions. We can place the hall directly on the ground and use anchor pins for anchoring. This saves a lot of time and money compared to traditional construction. But again, it depends on your use and the on-site conditions.

10. How quickly can you deliver an industrial hall?

This depends on various circumstances, but in general, we can deliver our industrial halls 'turnkey' within a few days or weeks (as opposed to months and even years, compared to traditional construction).

Hold on, I have more questions!
