The top 4 event trends for 2023

Published on

Bigger, greener, more flexible, but also more striking appearances and completely out-of-the-box. Now that the 2022 event season has ended, the trends for the upcoming season are already showing. What will your event look like in 2023? Together with event specialist Barbara Hendrikx-Kalksma - who orchestrated several international events for Losberger De Boer - we list the trends for 2023.

Event trend #1: Going Green
In addition to an ‘eco look’ in design and decorations, the requests for more sustainable event design is on the rise. There is a growing demand for sustainable innovations, as well as a guarantee that suppliers are working as green as possible. Barbara Hendrikx-Kalksma says Losberger De Boer is focused on sustainability itself (please feel free more about this and download our CSR report here!) and relishes the challenge to help event organizers to make their event more sustainable.

“Of course the look and feel are important in terms of appearance, but there is a lot we can do within the additional facilities. Think of reusable carpet tiles and LED lighting, but also climate control on electricity or biodiesel. With a few small adjustments you can already significantly change the ecological impact of an event.”

Event trend #2: the bigger, the better
Thinking about sustainability is a nice thought, especially as events get bigger and bigger. The quest for that unique look: taller and larger buildings, but also better acoustics, for example. Because the bigger the space, the harder it becomes to get the sound right. In a crowded room, you don't want the message of a presentation to get lost in a reverberant hole. Losberger De Boer continues to look for innovation to ensure the ultimate visitor experience.

Barbara Hendrikx-Kalksma: “Acoustics and sound are very important for conferences, so we developed a box-in-box concept. This dampens the reverberation in a room. Should the space be larger, the Acoustic Wall Barrier might be a better solution. But we also continue to innovate within the use of current offerings: other railings and round shapes to give a structure just a more contemporary look.”

Event trend #3: flexibility and ability to scale up
If recent times have taught us anything, it is that there is little certainty in life. What if the planned pavilion needs to be bigger, or laid out differently? A lot is possible within the available space, and flexibility can even be incorporated into the plans in advance.

Barbara Hendrikx-Kalksma: “This remains an important pillar for temporary pavilions. Beforehand, we clearly discuss what the client’s needs are, what the location is and what would be a logical routing on site. If between construction and planning things need to be scaled up, or set up differently, our flexible design leaves us room to apply changes where needed.”

Event trend #4: box-shaped eyecatchers
Looking for the ultimate eyecatcher for an event? Event design hardly gets more spectacular than a massive, fully branded box shape. A wonderful example of functional design. Losberger De Boer's structures can be equipped with a banner frame around it, to create this impactful, and highly noticeable 'box' shape.

Barbara Hendrikx-Kalksma: “These Box shapes are definitely in demand. They have been for a few years, but the demand just keeps growing and we expect to build even more eyecatching, fully branded box-shaped buildings in 2023. We can 'box' structures with any design you want, so we can facilitate a truly unique design, and allow the client to convey messages through their event building.”
