Creating long-term protection for a historic aircraft
Preserving historic aircraft requires more than careful restoration. Long-term protection from the elements is essential to ensure these unique assets remain accessible for future generations.
For the Aviation Heritage Centre at De Kooy Air Base in the Netherlands, Losberger De Boer delivered a custom 10 x 20 metre Induro structure to protect a historic reconnaissance aircraft from rain, wind and other weather conditions.
Completed in just four working days, the project provides a durable protective environment while respecting both the aircraft and its surroundings.
The challenge
Installing a structure around a historic aircraft required careful planning and precision. The aircraft could not be moved or exposed to any risk during construction, while the available space required the structure to be positioned with millimetre accuracy.
In addition, the foundation had to be carefully aligned with existing concrete foundation slabs to provide a stable and secure installation.
The solution
Following detailed site preparation and surveying, our project team installed a 10 x 20 metre Induro structure with a 6.2 metre side height, allowing the aircraft to remain safely in place throughout the installation.
By combining precise engineering with efficient project execution, the complete structure was installed within four working days.
The result
The new structure provides year-round protection for an important piece of Dutch aviation heritage, helping preserve the aircraft while keeping it accessible for visitors.
