Rapid delivery of temporary classrooms to maintain continuity in education
Rapid delivery of temporary classrooms to maintain continuity in education
When structural safety concerns forced the closure of a large part of a secondary school campus, the impact on students, staff and families was immediate. Teaching capacity was lost, disrupting daily routines and putting educational continuity at risk.
This project was delivered in the United Kingdom, where structural issues related to RAAC (Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) required urgent action across multiple schools. In this context, a temporary solution was needed quickly — not only to provide space, but to restore a safe and stable learning environment.
Working in close coordination with public authorities, a rapid solution was implemented to ensure students could return to face-to-face learning as soon as possible.
Project facts
Our role
Appointed by the Department for Education, Losberger De Boer delivered two fully equipped temporary school buildings on-site.
The solution included 22 classrooms, ICT spaces, staff rooms and essential facilities, all designed to support day-to-day school operations.
A 20 x 55 metre Delta structure, combined with a 5 x 25 metre canopy, created sufficient space for teaching, circulation and sheltered access between buildings.
The facilities were installed on the school’s existing grounds, allowing students and staff to return to a familiar and accessible environment while a long-term solution was being developed.
The results
The temporary school buildings were completed on schedule, enabling all students to return to face-to-face education shortly after the initial closure.
The new environment provided more than additional space. It restored structure to the school day, supported uninterrupted learning, and helped create a sense of stability during a challenging period.
The facility quickly became a fully functioning part of the school community.
Impact for students and staff
Students were able to continue their education in a safe, compliant and comfortable environment, without extended disruption.
Teachers regained the ability to deliver lessons effectively, supported by fully equipped classrooms and dedicated spaces.
For the wider community, the solution ensured continuity, reduced uncertainty and maintained confidence in the school’s ability to operate.
Supporting schools with fast, reliable classroom solutions
This project forms part of a wider response to urgent school infrastructure challenges, where speed, safety and reliability are critical.
Temporary modular facilities provide a practical way to maintain essential public services, even when permanent buildings are unavailable or under pressure.
By delivering high-quality education spaces in a short timeframe, continuity is maintained and long-term disruption is avoided.
