Minimizing our ecological impact
As an industry leader, we were the first to use a formal environmental management system. This system is adapted and updated continuously to achieve the best possible results. As a result, we have made several adjustments to the way we work over the last decade.
In terms of transport, we have been able to significantly reduce our transport movements and the accompanying ecological impact. We have extensive experience in planning complex logistical operations and we utilize this to make our transport as efficient as possible.
Less transport movements and packaging materials
Thanks to a unique racking system of our own design, we can carry more base components for our structures than a truck with industry-standard equipment could. Our custom racking system also minimizes our risk of damaging parts during transport, which further reduces the number of transport movements over the year, without the need for packing materials, which are oftentimes a separate source of pollution.
Our company fleet is exclusively made up of vehicles that meet the Euro 6-code, and partners and suppliers that we introduce to a project are also required to use similar vehicles.
Focus on constant innovation to further improve sustainability
We continuously innovate and re-think our structures and components, to make them even more sustainable. Recently, for instance, we’ve switched to using recycled car dashboards for the blocks we use to elevate our base plates, instead of using newly produced plastic.
To further reduce our carbon footprint, our engineers have come up with a way to make the floors of our structures significantly lighter, which also means we need less trucks and, as they are less heavily loaded, these trucks use less fuel. On top of that, our new floors, which utilize composite to great effect, use less wood and have a lifespan that is three times longer than traditional wooden floors.
Our buildings always contain state-of-the-art insulation techniques, which reduces the output from heating or cooling devices. Traditional PVC wall panels have a heat resistance of 0,024. We use optimized insulation panels with a heat resistance of 0.94, which means there is significantly less need for cooling or heating.
Our structures in itself are over 95% recyclable, with aluminum, PVC and glass being the main components. When a project is completed, the materials will be re-used in a new structure. After completing their lifespan, all base parts are returned to the manufacturer to be used again in new materials. The sails that no longer meet our high criteria in terms of quality, are shipped to third world countries, to be used again
