Cheltenham Racecourse Events

2025 marked the start of a new partnership between Losberger De Boer, The Jockey Club and Cheltenham Racecourse, supporting their annual events calendar, including Autumn and Winter meetings, January fixtures, and The Cheltenham Festival.

We delivered 10 temporary venues across the site, totalling 11,175 m² and providing spaces for hospitality, retail, media, welfare and family areas.

The site includes single, double and triple-storey venues, designed to increase in scale as the season moves toward the Festival.

Phase 1

The project was delivered in stages, with the first phase beginning in September 2025 when the first venues were installed for the Autumn fixtures. These structures remained in use throughout the Winter season, supporting multiple race meetings as part of the ongoing programme.

Ahead of the Cheltenham Festival, our teams returned in January to expand the site, increasing capacity across key venues to support the volume of guests expected during the event.

"We first got here in September. We built the majority of our structures for the autumn and winter races. We are now back on site and excited to be back, work with new suppliers and encounter new challenges in the new year." - Elsa Thwaites, Project Manager

Phase 2: Scaling without disruption

One of the defining features of this build was our ability to extend existing hospitality venues into double and triple deckers, increasing capacity while keeping the original spaces undisturbed.

Two venues were expanded:

  1. The Owners & Trainers Tattersalls Pavilion was converted from a single-storey into a triple-deck hospitality structure.
  2. The Media Centre was expanded into a double-decker.

All of this was completed without touching the existing hospitality interiors. Instead, we added new floors above the original structures (a first for us), giving the racecourse the flexibility to increase capacity when required.

"Because we staggered it, we could focus on the first part, realise what we needed, what we might have missed, and improve on that for phase two." - Elsa Thwaites, Project Manager

This approach reflects a growing shift in how venues plan ahead for peak events: investing in infrastructure that can expand with demand, rather than remaining fixed year-round.

The Cheltenham Festival

The Cheltenham Festival is one of the biggest events in the racing calendar. Often compared to the Olympics of National Hunt racing, the 2026 Festival takes place from 10–13 March and welcomes more than 200,000 spectators to the racecourse.

To support an event of this size, the racecourse expands significantly. Across the site, our venues provide the spaces needed for hospitality, media, retail and guest services, helping the racecourse accommodate the scale and energy of the 4-day event.

Our Solutions

Across the site, we delivered a wide range of venue types using a combination of systems, including A-frames, Premier, Maxiflex and Anova structures.

The project includes:

  • Triple-Decker Tattersalls Owners & Trainers Pavilion – 2,700 m²
  • Double-Decker Media Centre – 1,500 m²
  • Shopping Village – 1,400 m²
  • Multiple Hospitality Venues, including The Turf Club, Racehorse Owners Association, Owners & Trainers Marquee, Annual Members Lounge, The Racing Lounge and The Horseshoe Pavilion – ranging from 150 m² to 1,200 m²
  • Private Hospitality Suite for David Pipe Racing - 150 m²

As the festival site expands to welcome thousands of visitors, these venues provide the hospitality, retail and operational spaces that keep everything running smoothly while allowing guests to enjoy the atmosphere of the week.

"Communication is the key. We work closely with the crew, suppliers and the racecourse throughout the project to keep everything moving and make sure everyone has the information they need." - Elsa Thwaites, Project Manager

Client Testimonial

“Looking back on our first year together, some of our greatest achievements were that we were able to drive that innovation to deliver an uplifting experience for some really key stakeholders.

Working together for the first time brought with it some really exciting challenges, with the ability to firstly understand how LDB works as an organisation, how we work, and partner with LDB and how it rolled out across such a complex network of contractors on a 40,000sqm site, so looking back one of the greatest successes was seeing how that was fulfilled.

Innovation and sustainability are our core, and it’s really exciting to look forward to how the partnership will grow and how we can collectively drive innovation to further enhance the experiences that we can provide here at the racecourse.

From an efficiency and sustainability perspective, the opportunity that LDB provided us by presenting the concept of being able to phase build a multi-deck, which hadn’t been presented before in that way, definitely opened up new opportunities to be more efficient, sustainable and forward-thinking with what we build.

One of the strategic objectives was to, over time, significantly uplift our customer experience scores, so the ability to deliver an uplift in product as a consequence of working with LDB has contributed to doubling our customer experience score in 2026.”
