Temporary Education Facilities for Honywood School in Response to the RAAC Crisis
Rapid delivery of temporary classrooms during the UK RAAC school closures
When structural safety concerns forced the closure of nearly half of Honywood School’s campus, the risk to the students' education was immediate and significant.
Losberger De Boer responded rapidly, delivering 2 fully equipped temporary school buildings with 22 classrooms, enabling a seamless return to face-to-face teaching and restoring stability to the school community.
Our role
We were appointed by the Department for Education to provide temporary classroom buildings to get students back to school as quickly as possible, so they can continue learning with minimal disruption.
Our team prepared a section of the school’s playing fields and installed 2 classroom blocks, delivering 18 classrooms, 4 ICT classrooms, staff rooms and toilet facilities to support the school community while they worked on a long-term solution.
The results
The school buildings were completed on schedule, and all pupils were able to return to face-to-face learning after half term.
The new facility, later named “Space Village” by the school, provided a fully functioning teaching environment and helped restore routine and stability during a challenging time.
