A bespoke, 1.750 m2 relocatable venue for Van Gogh Alive

Published on

Losberger De Boer designed and delivered a purpose-built temporary venue that could facilitate the spectacular, fully immersive and multi-sensory experience that is the Van Gogh Alive exhibition. And they did it twice, both in London and in Manchester.

Van Gogh Alive is a spectacular exhibition that celebrates the work of world-renowned artist Vincent Van Gogh. Through the use of projections and music, Van Gogh Alive offered an immersive, multi-sensory experience to thousands of visitors.

To facilitate this world-class event, Losberger De Boer designed and delivered a 1.750 m2 exhibition venue that was tailor-made for Van Gogh Alive. Within this venue, they created completely soundproof areas with no natural light, as well as large, open spaces, with warm natural light coming through the ceiling, to help the creators of this exhibition realize their vision.

After a four-month spell in London, the expo was then moved to Manchester’s MediaCityUK in Salford. The venue was rebuilt in its entirety, with some minor adjustments to make it more suitable to its new location.

‘A magnificent venue’

John Carrigan, Project Director for Van Gogh Alive, was pleased with the venue Losberger De Boer delivered. Shortly before the start of the second exhibition in Manchester, he said: “We have just enjoyed a memorable four months on the lawns of Kensington Gardens with the Van Gogh Alive immersive art exhibition, which saw a record numbers of visitors.”

“Our challenge in Manchester was to replicate that success and visitor experience in the heart of MediaCity. Once again, we went to Losberger De Boer to provide us with the soundproof and weather resistant Exhibition Gallery essential for this project. We are delighted to welcome thousands of guests into this magnificent venue which continues to make this wonderful exhibition possible.”
